PERMIT TO PURCHASE

The North Branch Police Department issues permits to purchase/transfer firearms for residents residing within the city limits of North Branch.  If you have a North Branch mailing address but live outside of the city limits, you must apply for a permit to purchase/transfer through your local sheriff's office.  You may contact the Chisago County Sheriff's Office at 651-213-6305 and the Isanti County Sheriff's Office at 763-689-2141.  The police department does not issue permits to carry firearms.  All Chisago County residents must apply for permits to carry through the Chisago County Sheriff's Office.  For online information regarding permits to purchase/transfer see https://dps.mn.gov/divisions/bca/bca-divisions/administrative/Pages/firearms-permit-to-purchase-transfer.aspx

If you wish apply for a permit to purchase/transfer, please complete a permit to purchase form and submit the form to the North Branch Police Department.  You may either drop off the form in person during business hours, fax the form to 651-674-2423, or email the form to marcym@ci.north-branch.mn.us.  A copy of your ID will also be required.  It will take 5 to 7 days to process the permit and you will be notified via phone or email when it is ready.  You are required to come to the North Branch Police Department to sign the permit in person and show proper identification (driver's license or ID).  There is no charge for the permit.
